The DRX Clinic Diary: Consultation

Hello Beauty-maniacs,

Recently I was being introduced ( by a friend of mine ) to this amazing aesthetic clinic.

It is called “ The DRX Clinic “.
Maybe it might sound familiar to you ( because it was highly recommended by magazines/internet forums ).

( But if you never heard of it ),

I did a blogpost to review my first trip to The DRX Clinic.

.
.
.

What’s The DRX Clinic ?

The DRX Clinic is set up in 1999 and led by renowned aesthetic physician Dr S K Tan ( who has 30 years of expertise under his belt ).

The DRX Clinic is known worldwide for their research on hyperpigmentation and reputed for their effective treatment on ACNE.

The DRX Clinic ONLY uses Derma- Rx ( a range of globally known skincare products ) made in US and is only attainable through prescription by their certified doctors.

What services does The DRX Clinic provides?

The DRX Clinic is equipped with the latest technologies ( to ensure the most advanced treatment for individual conditions ) such as " Proprietary Laser Programs " that not only treats hyperpigmentation but also treats ACNE and vascular ( related to blood vessels ) conditions !!!

The DRX Clinic do offer treatments for hair fall oncerns ( balding people, TAKE NOTE ) !!!

Why I wanted to visit an asethic clinic for treatment?

The main reason why I visited The DRX Clinic is because I wanted to get a "laser treatment" for a long time.

A laser treatment would definitely help to lighten my scars, uneven skin texture, blackheads and open pores.

I have been fighting the "acne" war for a long time.

I shall be honest, I used make up to get the effect of having a flawless skin ( and to look presentable).

However, ( whenever I'm not wearing make up ) I felt very low self-esteem and not "confident" about my appearance.

Different people have different self-consciousness.

My self-consciousness ( and my nightmare ) would be my fucking ACNE/ and its residue SCAR.

Don't believe?

I took the courage to take a few photos of myself without any make up, without any photoshop, and even without any skincare on.

I'm just presenting to you my fucking BARE FACE.

Here it is ( get ready ):

Front view of my "fucked-up-ness"

Left side of my "fucked-up-ness"

Right view of my "fucked-up-ness"
I know it's gruesome, in-appropriate or even borderline GORE to post my no make up/ no photoshop face over on my blog but this is the fucking face/ugly truth I have to deal with EVERYDAY.

Even though I'm a skincare junkie/guinea pig , ( to be honest ) skincare products could ONLY "subside" or "lighten" the appearance of the scar and also to be used as a daily maintanence.

However, an asethetic laser treatment would definitely benefit my skin ALOT and helps me to achieve back my ( once ) flawless skin ( back then when I was 14 ).

Entering The DRX Clinc

When I first entered the clinic, I feel very welcomed by the beautiful ivory themed furnitures ( because the whole clinic look very CLEAN, SPACIOUS and PROFESSIONAL ) and the cheerful consultants awaiting for me at the reception ( with a SMILE of course ^.^ ).

I love it that the clinic is located at some "ulu" ( deserted ) building ( in orchard road ) because ...

It's very PEACEFUL !!!

I don't want to go to those clinic that is filled with noisy children or mums breastfeeding their kids( or me stepping on a breast-pump ).

and I feel VERY TAITAI-ish because I was treated with royalty by their excellent service attitude ( given by the consultants/doctors )

I feel that I'm educated by the consultants and especially by Dr Nicholas when I do my consultation.

Brochures READY for you to pick up

Products have been placed for you to TRY
Brochures and Television ( showing clips of various treatment ) were available EVERYWHERE.

However, I need to inform you that the awaiting time at the reception is around 10-20 mins ( it's like polyclinic "style" of waiting but less aggressive ).

Do bring your iPhone or iPod to keep yourself entertained ( or you can read their highly-informative BROCHURES ).

Starting my Consultation

When I entered the consultation room I was welcomed by Dr Nicholas Ngui.

Here's a photo of Dr Nicholas Ngui :

Dr Nicholas Consultation Room ( Ok I feel damn stalker-ish ,but yeah this is his office )
Dr Nicholas Ngui has 13 years of clinical practice experience and 12 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
I think that I'm very lucky to Dr Nicholas Ngui as my doctor because he was very informative, experienced and FRIENDLY ( I buay tahan those doctors that are fucking egoistic and think they know it all and preferred us patients to STFU !!! ).

Firstly Dr Nicholas Ngui used a mini Macnifying "ringlight" to examine my skin condition.

Then he asked me whether I'm facing any acne/pimple breakout, which I gladly replied " occassionally YES, but luckily NO ".

Then I told him that I'm facing very bad "pores" enlargement , scarring and acne "residues/aftermaths" ( from my previous breakouts ).

Dr Nicholas explained to me that "large pores" actually reflects the increased activity of the oil glands and, realistically, it is not possible to fully "close" the pores but laser treatments could help to the minimize the apparance of the pores.

Then I explained to Dr Nicholas that I had oral treatment "Accutane (Isotretinon)" before( which doesn't work for me at ALL ).

It helps at first ( by drying up my skin to the max ) but eventually it doesn't help anymore.

And it's super expensive and unproductive ( and makes my lips peel like crazy ) !!!

Then I switched to "off the counter products ( like KIEHLS' )" for help and it worked ( for my acne inflammations ONLY ).

Ok I know I am super long-winded and I won't be surprised if you suddenly DOZE OFF.

* WAKE UP *, haven't finished yet ( I'm all excited for my treatment, so just bare with me fuck-tards ) !!!
( To prevent you from falling asleep from my grandmother story ),

I've posted a few more pictures of The DRX Clinc:

Product Consultation Rooms ( Consultants will bring you to this room to explain to you how to used their products )

Photo-Taking Room ( to take your mugshots BEFORE treatment face. DON'T WORRY !!! The photos are HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL )

Treatment Room ( which I will be the one lying down on it very soon *nervous pee* )
Dr Nicholas explained to me what products ( from Derma-Rx ) will he be prescribing for me and explained to me why it suits my skin conditions.

He also explained to me that the products also helps to prepare my skin for the laser treatments.

( Personally ) I feel that Derma-Rx range of products are not really considered as a "regime" but rather considered as skincare products targetted on specific skin concerns.

Well nvm.
Here are the Derma-Rx products that Dr Nicholas had specially prescribed for my skin condtion ( ACNE SKIN PEOPLE, WAKE UP *clap* !!! )and I've wrote a review on how I feel about how I feel about the products ( after 4-5 days of usage ):

STEP 1: Foaming Cleanser ( 170 ml )

Description:

The Foaming Cleanser is a hydrating cleanser for ALL SKIN TYPES that contains optimal concentrations of Marine Algae extracts that gently EXFOLIATES for a soothing and refreshing wash. This cleanser promotes natural cleansing and toning, while balancing the pH ( oil and water content ) level on the skin.

My Review:

I feel that the cleanser is not bad. It's basically a normal gel cleanser and it lathers foam ( like any other foam wash ). I like it that it retains my skin natural moisture after washing and it doesn't contains any fragrance.

STEP 2: Toner ( 170 ml )

Description: Toner is an alcohol-free fluid with Glycolic and Salicylic Acid to enhance the cleansing process. It contains Allantoin, which helps restore moisture to the skin, leaving the skin feeling revitalized and supple.

My Review:

When I applied the toner on a cotton pad, I can smell a light medicinal smell. I predict it's the smell of Salicylic Acid. Not to worry. The smell is bearable and pleasant. I like the toner because it's very hyrating and my skin appears to be more refreshed. It's fast-absorbing and NON-STICKY !!!

STEP 3: Comedone Formula ( 25ml )

Description: Comedone Formula is a natural formulation containing botanical extracts, which work to reduce the appearance of comedones ( blackheads & whiteheads ). It assists in dissolving and softening comedones and prevents new comedone formation by loosening the follicular plug and also by reducing sebaceous ( oil glands ) activity.

My Review:

I was told by the consultant to apply a light amount of it ONLY at my affected areas ( like my T-zone, cheeks and jaw area ). I need to pat ( with my fingers ) to let it absorb. I feel that it's a little sticky ( when you just apply it onto your skin ) but after a few seconds the sticky-ness feeling with fade ( because I guessed it's been absorb into the skin ). You will feel abit of "tickling sensation" and your skin might turn a little yellowish but not to worry this actually proves that the product is doing it's job.

STEP 4: Blemish Formula Plus ( 25ml )

Description: Blemish Formula Plusis an effective anti-acne preparation that contains a micronized version of Benzoyl Peroxide ( one of the EXCELLENT ingredient used for treating acnes !!! , which optimizes the follicular penetration ( how fast the product absorb into your skin ) with improved efficacy. This formulation, with a slow and extended release of Benzoyl Peroxide, minizes irritation, provides extended and long-lasting effectiveness at the site of action ( affected area ). It also regulates overly active sebaceous glands to control ebum ( oil ) productions.

My Review:

I was told to only apply this on pimple area ( like my cheeks and jaw ). I like it that it's non-greasy and ( infact ) my skin feels matte after applying. The texture is gel-like and it's not sticky on the skin. <3

STEP 5: Lightener ( 35ml )

Description: Ligtener is a non-greasy gel that contains a potent 4% Hydroquinone for maximum effects of skin lightening. Ideal for the treatment of skin discoloration and unsightly pigmentation such as freckles,age-spots, melasma and senile lentigines, this formula is a highly stable preparation that resists OXIDATIVE DISCOLORATION ( darkening of skin ).

My Review:

This is my favourite product !!! I absolutely love this product because it contains Hydroquinone !!! Hydroquinone is a well known ingredient which is excellent in skin whitening to reduce the colour of the skin and even out the skin tone. It's not harsh for the skin as well. Onced I applied this product on, immediately the appearance of my skin becomes fairer. If you are more daring, you could apply a few "pea" size more over on your blemish area ( to somehow camflouge and treats it ).

It's recommended to use a SUNBLOCK !!!

Eventually any "whitening" products will be redundant if you don't apply a sunblock on.
Step 6: Tinted Sunscreen SPF 30+ ( 60 ml ) ( only in the DAY, or at night if you're going out )

Description: Tinted Sunscreen SPF 30+ is an advanced tinted formulation that provides protection against harmful UV radation while ensuring minimal risk of irritation. With a smooth powdery feel, it is ideal for post-laser or post-procedure sun-protection.

My Review:

I took the tinted sunblock ( instead of their normal sunblock ) because usually I apply make up base before I apply my make up ( to somehow even out my skin colour ). Now I'm using the tinted sunscreen to act as a sunblock and a make up base. Not bad. You won't feel very greasy after using it. It's gives you a dewy powder-like feeling. Eventually it will become matte ( after 2-3 mins ).

STEP 7: Vita-A-Gel ( 35 ml ) ( only at NIGHT )

Description: Vit-A-Gel is a unique formulation containing a syngergistic blend of Green Tea extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Retinol and Salicylic Acid (BHA) to stimulate and increase cell-turnover, with additional comedolytic action. It also reduces the appearance of fine lines and uneven skin texture.

My Review:

I was told to apply this on whole face ( but avoid upper eyelid and corner of nose because the skin is more delicate/thin around that area ).  When I opened the product, I can smell a light citrus-like smell ( I guessed its the Green Tea extract ), well like it smells medicinal but tolerable. I felt abit of tickling sensation but it will fade of within 1-2 mins.

However my skin gets dry the next day, I guessed due to the over extensive amount of skincare I'm applying.

But don't get me wrong, I like the effect of this product on my skin because it helps to even out my skin texture.

Therefore I come into conclusion of using it, every alternate night so that my skin has enough time to recuperate and comes up with new layer of healthy "dead skin".

.
.
.

So I have concluded my first visit to The DRX Clinic.

More importantly, my first trip to The DRX Clinic is basically a ( face-to-face ) consultation with Dr Nicholas

Currently I am still using their products and religiously apply their range of products.

If you wish to know more about The DRX Clinic,

CLICK HERE TO VISIT THEIR WEBSITE !!!

I feel so sad for my other bottles of skincare products. I feel bad for not using them now. LOL !!! I've totally left them for Derma-Rx.

I know it's beneficial if I stick to one full range of products from a specific brand ( best advice ). I just feel that they are my babies too and they are like poor orphans now. LOL !!!

Currently, no specific treatment has been assigned to me by Dr Nicholas yet but a schedule appointment had been made on January 16 ( 3 weeks from now ) to decide what treatment would suit me BEST and then proceed with their treatment.

Most likely, it will be a laser treatment ( like fractional laser or CO2 laser ).

Don't worry bitches, I will definitely be doing a blogpost for my next visit.

Stay tuned to my awesome blog

Wish me luck, beauty fucks !!! \(^.^)/

  9. Hello

Thanks for commenting on my blog. Your comment is read and appreciated. Thanks for your loved and concern <3

I use lots of shitty Watson products. Some work but some DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. More affordable ones you can look for this pimple cream called "Benzoyl Peroxide 0.5%" in Watsons. It's very good for healing pimple too. Derma X range products are very effective. I think the must try is the Vit-A-gel and skin lightener. I think I spent around $600 plus for the complete range but you can visit their clinic at 302 Orchard Road Tong Building ( the rolex building next to Paragon ). They are located at 16th floor. Their staffs are very informative, so don't feel shy approaching them dolls.

    Love Yourself. Stay fierce *roar*

    Regards
    Eric Mama <3
